Garbage Burger

So.... I recently visited Destin with a group of friends. One night we ate at McGuire's, which is an Irish Pub. The menu item that caught our eye The Garbage Burger is described as "some of everything - it's absolutely disgusting." Ricky decided to order it for supper.

Our waitress, Milly, explained that the cooks would just go down the line and put whatever they saw on the burger, apparently including, but not limited to: kraut, guacamole, peanut butter, chili, marinara, horseradish, banana peppers, jalepeno peppers, and three types of cheeses. Please note in the picture that on the side also come the typical burger "dressings:" lettuce, tomato, and pickle.

Ricky stated that it was horrible. After Ricky was done, we passed the Garbage Burger around for the bravest of the bunch to try.

Dave looks to be on the verge of vomiting.

I described my bite as having a "muddied flavor." Fortunately, I only got guac, chili, and jalepeno on my bite.

John is unsure that it's actually "disgusting."

Rachel Baby takes a two-fisted bite!

Jackie was unimpressed (of course he was , he's eaten a pine cone before).

Ali's expression (really the best caught on camera) sums up the group's opinion of this "gourmet offering."

Cheers to the makers and tasters of Garbage Burgers!

Garbage Travis

So.... sometimes I just want to throw Travis away.

I found a squeaker ball hidden in a plastic tote yesterday. I gave it to Travis and after almost 24 hours of non stop squeaking, bouncing, jumping, chasing, fetching, rolling under furniture, and slobbering, I remembered why I hid it in a tote. I guess it may be easier to just throw the ball away.

Speedo Suave

So.... there are some looks not even a fashion icon can pull off.

Seersucker Suave

So.... I think I mentioned that I had acquired a new piece of clothing for my wardrobe prior to leaving for Central America - a Seersucker Suit! My shopping friend Becky and I were at Kohl's, and I found a seersucker suit on sale (80% off). Of course it really doesn't fit (especially the pants), but I thought maybe that might inspire me to get back on my fitness program. Of course, adding nightly ice cream to the fitness program may be better inspiration (though, that program probably won't help me fit in the seersucker pants). Anyway, the other reason I bought it was that Becky and I thought that Misty and Marty would appreciate the humor of meeting us in the ATL airport and finding me wearing a seersucker jacket. We didn't get a picture of their expressions, but it was worth buying the outfit.
I realize that I posted this after Labor Day, but I wouldn't dare wear seersucker out of season; wrong size maybe, but never wrong season.

Destin & A Birthday Wish

So... I'm in Destin this weekend with my friends from Third Baptist in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. We spent all day on the beach! The white sand beaches of the Gulf Coast are so nice.
I bought a beach chair, umbrella, and beach bag from Wal-Mart last night - oh, they are all lime green. The beach bag tore this afternoon - I'm going to take it back to Wal-Mart tonight to see if they'll exchange it.
I had to go to Best Buy last night - I bought a new camera. Why a new camera you ask? Yesterday afternoon I accidentally poured Diet Coke on my old one (old! I bought it in December). Hopefully, the old one will dry out, but I wanted a camera for this weekend - there goes this vacation budget!
Sorry I haven't posted lately; a future post will explain the lapse in blogging.
I also wanted to send out a special Happy Birthday Wish to Deputy US Marshal Marty Fitzjurls. This is the first time in three years that I haven't been with Misty Leigh and Marty (and our friend Becky) on his Birthday. Two years ago: a luau in Hawaii. Last year: Marty's favorite dinner in their exclusive DC area townhouse.
Happy Birthday, Marty. Wish you were here (you too MLW and Becky)!

Costa Rica - Canopy Tour

So.... we got back from vacation last night. We went to Costa Rica for a week. We stayed on the pacific coast, in the northwest region called Guanacaste. We stayed in a villa in a resort - we were right by the restaurant and the pool, and had a great view of the coast and ocean. I'll post more pics as they become available.

These photos are from the Congo Trail Canopy Tour near our resort. Becky (obviously, the smartest of our foursome) stayed at the Beach, while Misty Leigh, Marty and I payed to be strapped into harnesses and zipped through the rain forest along cables 60 to 80 feet above the ground. It was neat after you were on the cable; the hooking up to the zip line while standing at the edge of the swinging platform (not nailed or bolted into the tree - just attached by cables) was what made my heart beat fastest. By the seventh or eighth zip line, I enjoyed it. However, I probably wouldn't do it again.

I think it's important to recognize different personality types, and photos taken in a stressful situations help to elicit those particular traits:

Marty, the US Marshal, displays marked determination.

Misty Leigh, a former Miss Arkansas Contestant, wants to be "Your Next Miss Congo Canopy Tour."

Aaron, avid Target Shopper, grimaces in absolute terror.

They actually did get a photo of me somewhat smiling.

Panama Jack, er... Costa Rica Aaron?

So.... it's been a little while since I've posted anything because I've been busy getting ready for my Trip. I leave way too early in the morning for my vacation to Costa Rica. This hat is just a preview of some new fashions (hopefully, my other new piece will be entertaining and not humiliating), but you'll have to wait until I get back to check it out. The hat is actually a Panama Jack brand hat - haven't seen that since 1988. The other hat (at Wal-Mart) was cooler looking but it was a Corona brand hat, and I just couldn't bring myself to purchase it despite the fact that I inspected it long enough to know that the Corona patch would have come off very easily. Anyway... see you after I get back from Central America. Please wait to call me on my cell until I get back, unless it's really important (like $3.00 a minute important).
