Destin & A Birthday Wish

So... I'm in Destin this weekend with my friends from Third Baptist in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. We spent all day on the beach! The white sand beaches of the Gulf Coast are so nice.
I bought a beach chair, umbrella, and beach bag from Wal-Mart last night - oh, they are all lime green. The beach bag tore this afternoon - I'm going to take it back to Wal-Mart tonight to see if they'll exchange it.
I had to go to Best Buy last night - I bought a new camera. Why a new camera you ask? Yesterday afternoon I accidentally poured Diet Coke on my old one (old! I bought it in December). Hopefully, the old one will dry out, but I wanted a camera for this weekend - there goes this vacation budget!
Sorry I haven't posted lately; a future post will explain the lapse in blogging.
I also wanted to send out a special Happy Birthday Wish to Deputy US Marshal Marty Fitzjurls. This is the first time in three years that I haven't been with Misty Leigh and Marty (and our friend Becky) on his Birthday. Two years ago: a luau in Hawaii. Last year: Marty's favorite dinner in their exclusive DC area townhouse.
Happy Birthday, Marty. Wish you were here (you too MLW and Becky)!

Costa Rica - Canopy Tour

So.... we got back from vacation last night. We went to Costa Rica for a week. We stayed on the pacific coast, in the northwest region called Guanacaste. We stayed in a villa in a resort - we were right by the restaurant and the pool, and had a great view of the coast and ocean. I'll post more pics as they become available.

These photos are from the Congo Trail Canopy Tour near our resort. Becky (obviously, the smartest of our foursome) stayed at the Beach, while Misty Leigh, Marty and I payed to be strapped into harnesses and zipped through the rain forest along cables 60 to 80 feet above the ground. It was neat after you were on the cable; the hooking up to the zip line while standing at the edge of the swinging platform (not nailed or bolted into the tree - just attached by cables) was what made my heart beat fastest. By the seventh or eighth zip line, I enjoyed it. However, I probably wouldn't do it again.

I think it's important to recognize different personality types, and photos taken in a stressful situations help to elicit those particular traits:

Marty, the US Marshal, displays marked determination.

Misty Leigh, a former Miss Arkansas Contestant, wants to be "Your Next Miss Congo Canopy Tour."

Aaron, avid Target Shopper, grimaces in absolute terror.

They actually did get a photo of me somewhat smiling.

Panama Jack, er... Costa Rica Aaron?

So.... it's been a little while since I've posted anything because I've been busy getting ready for my Trip. I leave way too early in the morning for my vacation to Costa Rica. This hat is just a preview of some new fashions (hopefully, my other new piece will be entertaining and not humiliating), but you'll have to wait until I get back to check it out. The hat is actually a Panama Jack brand hat - haven't seen that since 1988. The other hat (at Wal-Mart) was cooler looking but it was a Corona brand hat, and I just couldn't bring myself to purchase it despite the fact that I inspected it long enough to know that the Corona patch would have come off very easily. Anyway... see you after I get back from Central America. Please wait to call me on my cell until I get back, unless it's really important (like $3.00 a minute important).
